Student Essay Contest
“How my community college
Tell us how Oakton Community College has changed your life and you might win
$250 CASH AWARD!
$250 CASH AWARD!
The Student Government Association and the Illinois Community College Trustees Association give current students an opportunity to express their thoughts about the benefits of community college through this essay contest. The winning Oakton student will receive a $250 prize and have his/her essay entered in the 2011 Paul Simon Student Essay Contest. The winner of the Paul Simon Contest will win a grand prize of $500.
Entries are due to the Office of Student Life
(Rooms 1430 DP or A160 SK) by 6:00 PM, Monday, March 7, 2011.

Contest rules:
· Student participants must be currently enrolled in the Spring 2011 semester
· Each essay must be less than 500 words, typed, and address the topic, “How my community college has changed my life.”
Each entry will be judged on the basis of:
· Writing style
· Clarity of expression
· Relevancy to the topic
· Correct grammar and punctuation
Essays should be submitted by email to studentlife@oakton.edu or in printed form to the Office of Student Life, 1430 DP or A160 SK, by 6 PM, on or before Monday, March 7, 2011. Submissions must include a title page with your name, phone number, email and student ID number.
